Iran Goes Down to S. Korea at Asian Handball Championship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran lost to South Korea at the 2018 Asian Men’s Handball Championship and it means that Team Melli has not qualified for the 2019 World Men’s Handball Championship.


On Tuesday, Iran national handball team was defeated against S. Korea 28-25 in Group 1 at the Suwon Gymnasium, Suwon.
Borut Macek’s team, who had defeated Uzbekistan 37-18 and Japan 37-32 in Group A and lost to Saudi Arabia 26-23 in Group 1, will play Oman on Wednesday.
Both teams have failed to advance to the competition’s semi-final.
The 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship is the 18th edition of the championship held under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation.
The championship is being held at Suwon, South Korea from January 18 to 28, 2018.
It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh have participated in the event for the first time.
